Tubes have been obsolete in common gear for quite a while now, and the guitarrists and tone freaks of the world have kept it alive.
I guess the whole DR's being priced higher than TR's just proves the law of demand. The features/size/quantity of an amp doesn't matter with regards to price, it's whether people want it or not. I was thinking about the twin for a while, but im not in great shape so even my DR could be a handful at times.
