      It's hard to explain when an amp sounds dry, but I can tell you it's the opposite of a wet sounding amp, LOL.

          Dry = no effects whatsoever (not even reverb). Think Angus Young
          Wet = with effects

            that's what I was thinking of too, coz you said this is the dry signal etc....
            but if we talk about amps do we mean the same??

              Kinda. Like Sune said, it's kinda hard to explain but's on that same premise.

                Yeah...To really understand it you have to hear clips of a dry amp, like a VHT for example, and then hear clips of a very wet amp, then you can tell the difference easily, I think.

                  ok what is a wet amp in the high gain ballpark?

                    I know what a wet amp and a dry amp sounds like, however, I don't have any wet amp names in my head right now, so I'll let others chime in.

                      when i say DRY, i mean Literally DRY.
                      its not what Erick said... it´s not related to the standard signifying that dry/wet has.
                      i mean, the DISTORTION sound SOUNDS Dry.

                        When you wash one cloth, you ONLY wear it again when it dries.. right?
                        well, in portuguese, we call it dry, but in english, could be called RAW.
                        ahahahah but the word DRY is more suitable to me than Raw.
                        raw, reminds me of RAW blackmetal.. ahahahah think Darkthrone, a blaze in the northern sky. thats dry AND RAW.

                                I know what you meant with dry and wet, WFD, for example some of those VHT amps are very very dry in their distortion. And wet amps are very lush, "dripping", etc...really, it can't be explained with words.
