  • Removing NFB Loop on Ampeg AC-12

    Greetings.... I want to bring my new/old Ampeg AC12 up to spec of the soon to follow GU12, in which the sole difference was the removal of the NFB, plus 2 tones instead of 1,..... But tone controls aside, just to put a lid on this baby, if I simply wanted to hear just how it sounds w/o the NFB, I could "interrupt" the wire from the spkr jack to the nfb R? And if I liked it, w/o any NFB, I could let it hang as is, perhaps just taping it off, & no other precautions necessary? Finally, let's say i want an on/off switch, is there any safety resistor I've heard tossed around, necessary? Please be as specific as poss...

    yes, you can just unsolder the wire from the speaker jack to disable nfb. on my '66 dr, i used the ground switch as a nfb on/off switch.

        yeah, make (nfb on) or break (nfb off) the connection is all it does
