NSD: Fane 12”

Got this real UK made Fane speaker for an absolute steal (under $50AUD). The guy who sold it to me lived on the street I grew up on. He included it in a modified bass cabinet with a removable back for closed or open. Does the David Gilmour clean to mild sounds very nicely and with a heavier amp has a killer Helmet Meantime rasp, especially in tandem with a Legend V12. I’ve heard a lot about Fane speakers (it’s even in a few modeler cab sims and IR packs.)

Any Fane-fans or experts about?

Years ago( 80's ), I noticed a big difference in a early 1980's 4x12 cab's speakers .
So I took off the metal grill and discovered the cab had two Celession "Greenback" with two Fane speakers.
The Fanes were far better to my ears. At the time, I was using a 100 watt Carvin X-100 B with a 5 band and active tone controls.
I forgot the type of Fane speaker, but the amp head's Eq allowed me to take the speakers thru the different frequencies.
The Cleans were more dynamic, much more than Greanback.
Distorted, the Fane speaker punched in more robust way.
I am a total Fane Fan boy!!!!

Those look like the real deal. I'm not an expert (don't know cone codes and what not), but I have a Hiwatt cab with the Fane purple reissues. It sounds amazing and sounds like my favorite records when mic'd up. Don't know if it's the cab, speakers, or both, but it has a boxy sound that I really like. Like a really freaking loud Fender SuperReverb (which, 4x10s to me has a real boxy sound also) Cleans are sparkly amazing. It's takes ear-splitting levels to get them to break up.
