    Hi, what are cabinets exactly? just speakers? simple as that?

    In term to musical gear, a cabinet is a box, typically made of wood, with one or more speakers mounted inside. Aside from input/output jacks, and the wiring going to the speakers, there's not much else to them.

      Yup just wooden box with speakers in them or place to add speakers to. You generally use them with heads or connect them to combos to add more speaker volume/spread.

        Ok thanks for that, now onto heads. do heads have a preamp and power amp in them then?
