I practically mod these pedals for nothing...Why risk screwing the circuit board up when I can do it right and have no problems?

Learning is cool, but you have to prepare to screw up a few pedals in the process....Lord knows I did!

I used to keep and extra TS9 around in case I screwed the board up or it didn't work upon completion...This isn't an issue today, but about 5 years ago it was...LOL

      Re: DIY Pedal Mod Question

I don't have one yet I've heard you say great things about your mods to the SD-1 and the TS-7. While I would love the Sparkle Drive...I'm gonna go the cheaper route. It's worked with the DS-1. I love the DS-1 and especially after the mod...it's a little too hot for me now. I really need a TS-style pedal now...with the modification of course. I'll hit the pawn shops and see if I can find one.

John is your TS mod the same $ as the DS-1 mod?

The TS7 is a bit more....More work....Man save for the Sparkle Drive....It's so much better than any of the Ibanez TS pedals!

            Re: DIY Pedal Mod Question

I may be saving and building my GASin'-character by waiting to buy a Sparkle Drive. That's what the master suggests...why shouldn't I listen to him?

But, I gotta get some practice doing pedal mod's. So, why don't all you guys just send me all of your tubescreamers to me so I can practice. If you don't use them you don't need 'em. PM me and I'll get 'em out of your way at no cost to you.

That's the deal. If you don't want them use them I'll take them for my own. I'll take freebies. But, I'm not gonna buy a lot of pedals for practice. I need to get some practice pedals somehow. Don't worry John...I not trying to be a competitor.

                    Re: DIY Pedal Mod Question

I'm gonna have to transplant my TS-5 into a different housing and get rid of that cheap plastic switch. I'll probably mod the clipping section a bit and boost the bass. I've already read the technology of the tube screamer site about thirty thousand times and understand the circuit inside and out. That's what helped me learn to mod other pedals to my taste. I'm having one heck of a time finding the right enclosure to use for this circuit. Guess I'll have to weld one up eh?

Maybe a Hammond box or his Taiwanese Hammond clone from SmallBear?

Nah... I'm gonna have to fab one just to be able to say that I did it. Lets me play with the wire welder some more. Man that thing makes gorgeous welds. It ain't TIG, but it sure beats a buzzbox.
