  • Rivera Pubster, any comments?

It looks basically like a Super Champ(also Rivera designed), anyone ever play one?

I love my Chubster 40 also. KILLER amp.

I have played the Pubster and it is very nice. Certainly a step above your run of the mill amp.

        I have a Pubster 25, but I've never played a Super Champ, so I can't compare them.

The 25w version I have has almost zero headroom, which is perfect for me but others may prefer the 45w version for the extra breathing space. Also, it's quite loud when the mids are dimed and I feel I could cut through an average drummer with just the 10in speaker, and most other drummers with a 4x12.

Great amp, decent tone. It's too Fender-y in the distortion for my tastes. It's everything I wished a Hot Rod Deluxe could be. Very sweet clean. I would like to hear it sent out to a 2x12 cab.

            Loved my Chubster 40.

Pubster is a different animal. I like it too...but it's not in the same league...the Fender sounds aren't as fendery...the Marshall sounds aren't as Marshally. Doesn't have as much depth or complexity. It's thinner and boxier sounding.

It's a great amp for the $. Well built and sounds pretty good...I sold my Chubster 40 for about what a Pubster/Clubster goes for new. I'd look used on Ebay for one of those.
