Re: Epiphone Valve Junior Head clips !!!

I wonder what this would sound like with a good 1X12 loaded with a Celestion Alnico Blue! Think it would be worth the extra cost or would the Greenback be good enough? Open or closed would be a good question as well. I got the head too and it sounds okay but I've got to change out those tubes! Already tried a JJ 12AT7 and Electro Harmonix 12AX7 and it sounded better but I wanna get the JJ 12AX7 and EL 34.
    My songs....enjoy! (hopefully )

        Yup, I do realise this

The head would be the better option for me as far as recording goes, as I could pair it up with different cabs with different speakers in

I listened to these the other day....Great clips!

Cool little amp. I've played the combo 5 watter..considering the price?...impressive...def needed a new speaker and tubes...but I think the foundation is there.

And yeah the JMP clips was way cool (and a little unexpected for tone-style) as is your bray modded RI. All great tones, bro!

Thanks Jeff! Yeah I try sometimes to lay down or have others lay down guyitar and amp combinations you wouldn't expect and I keep them for reference. Many times I'll go back to my Line 6 stuff and rethink the way I build tones and try and replicate that.

Re: Epiphone Valve Junior Head clips !!!

Well I popped in the Russian Military EL84 from the 80's my amp guy sent me.

The JJ was real good, but a tad on the darker side. I think this old tube had a bit more precense and 3D like effect to it. Also the breakup seemed much more smooth when the amp was around 2:00 on the dial and using the guitars volume rolled back and then up and hitting the strings harder and softer causing the breakup. It was subtley noticeable, but enough that I'll stick with the 80's Russian Military tube now.

Not sure how much they cost, but if reasonable, I'll look for a second one now, once I burn this one out down the line.
