  • speaker replacement for engl E322

i got a little sick of the vintage 30 tone. it's a little too pushing
sounding. i miss the warmth and vibe i desire for bluesrock.
    any suggestions ?
i first thought about eminence stonehenge or eminence texas heat,
    can anybody recommend these ?
i'm not stuck to eminence, any suggestions are welcome. previously i
tried the eminence legend gb12, which was rather too soft instead of warm,
    so not tough enough ;-)

    power handling 50-75 W

    cheers

i have a few of the new eminence speakers, the texas heat, cannabis rex, red fang and one other one that escapes me right now. all are good sounding that i like very much

i think the texas heat is a great speaker, much warmer to my ears than the v30. im not familiar with that amp, whats the scoop?

if i should judge the engl combo, i'd say it's an good allrounder,
      maybe a bit too neutral.
positive is, that it keeps it's characteristic at nearly every volume.
i like the great clean-headroom. it uses 5881 power tubes.

what i like most ist the fast response and the way how the socalled 'crunch channel' sounds. for me it's much more useful than a lead channel.
it's well built workhorse, just a little bit heavy for my taste.

what i miss on this amp is balls and warmth, which i hope to add with a less
boring speaker than the vintage 30. the vintage 30 seems to be some nice
lead guitar speaker in eg vai style.

i studied the eminence sound guide and the texas heat was one of my first
ideas - if you like that one too, i'll give it the try.
let's see if it transports that strat vibe better

i wonder if a legend 121 would also be a warmer speaker compared
to the v30. do you think it fits hendrix, srv and overall bluesrock tone?

eminence has a nice tone overview chart. what i miss in it, is the older
speakers. they only judge their red coat and patriots there :-\
