  • Amp nicknames!

I think the most unlucky amp as far as nicknames go probably is the Mesa Rectifier. I call it Rectum Frier, some say Rectumfier, rectal fire...

So what nicknames do you give to what amps?

I've got plenty of guitar ones, but not so many for amps.

                  Re: Amp nicknames!

I've never owned a Mess of Boogers. But I used to refer to my fender Super 60 as The`Stupid 60' (If you've ever opened one up and saw how it was designed... You would agree) My champ 12 ` the Chump 12' Any Peavey I've owned was called a Pee-Wee at some point. I refer to my Princeton Reverb, Affectionately as `Princey' I know that sounds gay... but we're both secure in our masculinity.

                    Re: Amp nicknames!

I used to toy around with the idea of when I owned my Music Man to say......
"Yeah I'll bring the ...... 76 trombones led the big parade....and 110 coronets.... yadda yadda......."

that lasted exactely one time.....then I realized why nicknames should be limited to 4 syllables MAX!!!

I hate having to tell my family that I've bought a Traynor amp . . . everyone always thinks I'm saying 'trainer' .

Not big on the nicknames for amps, but all the guitars have them. The best one in my studio would be "Mushmouth" for my '83 Amorican Calif Fat Tele, which the previous owner installed a hot rails for tele in the bridge and '59 in the neck and then wired it w/ taps to run series/parallel. Mushmouth seemed appropriate 'cause when it's running thru my Marshall heads, it will kick in your door, steal your lunch and run away with your girlfriend. It's basically a Les Paul in sheeps clothing.
