  • The Black Keys : What amp/pedals

On the Chulahoma record, and even on the "Rubber Factory", the guitar tone is just soooo gritty and good. Filthy dirty without being ordinary hi-gain stuff. Anyway, if you've heard it you'll know what i'm on about. I know it's a Tele. But what is it going into. Sounds like there's a fair whack of speaker distortion. Man it's great sounding! Do tell.
    Yeah!

The builder is the brother of "the Cramps" frontman Lux Interior. I love their guitar sound too!!!

I don't think the tone is solely Tele-->amp for a few songs, especially "Till I Get My Way". I'd say there's some sort of fuzz box in there.

I'm not sure what all them are though...

For amps, the second post was correct, but I've also heard he's used a Marshall or a Fender at a show or two.

His guitars are Telecasters and on their homepage there's a pic of him using an SG (three pickup version).

I think there's a Blues Driver in the second pic.

Looks like an Analog Man modded BD-2/Super. I've got one of those pedals. Can't say enough good things about it.
