  • Only three of my four pour tubes seem to be burning

What in the hell is going on here?

Oh, this is a Peavey JSX I'm dealing with here. I noticed this problem about ten minutes ago while I was on the phone with someone.

    This is bumming me out.

EDIT: damn typos...power tubes. It's supposed to be power tubes in the thread title.

Heh..I guess it just had to be jiggled a bit. Seems to be burning alright now.

    Damn my gear woes.

Be really careful when changing tubes, so the little metal pieces inside the amp's sockets don't get bent. If the connection is not tight, the cure is something called re-tensioning the sockets, which is basically taking something like a carpet awl and bending them to be tighter. If that doesn't work, it's best to just talk to a Peavey dealer and order sockets and solder them in yourself.

Ummm...if you don't know how to discharge the caps, leave it to a tech to re-tension the sockets. Ditto for replacing the sockets---if you haven't done it and don't have much experience working on gear, it's not the first thing you should try your hand at.
