    I recall, Ted Weber stess'es the importance of breaking in speakers , and suggests various ideas. That doesn't sound like an idea that he'd disaprove of to me.

    Most of the re-issue bassmans one will encounter are the standard ones with solid state rectifiers, tight power supply specs, and the modern dinky PCB componants. Cream 123 was right on the mark concerning these, IMO. At reasonable volume levels, these sound hard, stiff, and usually too clean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Limited version sounds more like the originals, and uses tube rectification. I played one of the new limited versions, and recall that I liked it almost as much as my Marshall.

    I recall using a provided boutique Vicky version once at a club gig, and the venue still woudn't let it be turned up enough to get OD, even with humbuckers. Clean, Clean, Clean, all night long.
