    Assuming someone wants lots of sustain:

    Standalone, the distortion would be better, but the overdrive is probably enough in front of an already semi-distorted amp.

    I voted overdrive because I'd probably put it in front of a gainy amp.

      with a 22-50 watt tube amp at band volumes- overdrive for sure.

        Well, it depends. Running into a pushed amp the OD. Clean used as a boost. There are Distortions that work this way as well.
