    I agree. The Moody Blues' "In Your Wildest Dreams" is another example. Cool Steinberger bass tone, but not the right tone for just every song.

                      I always thought that Francis Buchholz had the Precision bass sound for hard rock down to perfection. He later went to have a PA company, no surprise there.

                      In general, whatever weaknesses the Scorpions might have had in posing, English or cheesiness, they are really good when it comes to make two guitars work together, plus the rest of the instruments. Through in a decent budget for production while they were popular, good sound taste and you have a winner.

                              You know, I've pretty much liked all of the bass tones I've ever heard. About the only bass tone I can think of that makes me cringe is Korn's.
