I just got off the phone with Jolly, and in the spirit world, we both talked about 12 string basses.

I told him "this is the first F'ing 12 string bass conversation I've ever had."

So, I tried to get a straight answer out of him. Is it 6 X 2 or 4 X 3? He got way confused, as did I, trying to decipher that sh!t he calls the English language.

It's really hard to record and put in the mix of a song.

I like the band Morphine a lot so I wouldn't do anything except play solos or the like on guitar. Nothing but that big beast rattling away.

I have heard both the 12 and 8 string versions of that bass and I think the 8 string version sounds better. It just seems like with the 12 strings you get this big wash of overtones while the 8 strings tone is clearer and more distinct.

I'd just tune that 2nd octave to a 5th instead of an octave and have a power-chord thing going.

I agree completely. I was thinking about taking four of the strings off.

I've actually done that before. It seems like I recall it not sounding very good like I thought it would.
