Re: Need a bass amp that is a cheap and loud
I'll second the Carvin RL series heads. I personally don't care for them as I like a more colored sound (Ampeg fan here), but those Carvins are clean, cheap, and LOUD. Exactly what you're looking for.Originally posted by crusty philtrumAnd that's probably because most people with electric guitars seem more interested in their own performance rather than the effect on the listener ... in fact i don't think many people who own electric guitars even give a poop about the effect on a listener. Which is why many people play electric guitars but very very few of them are actually musicians.

Re: Need a bass amp that is cheap and loud
Head or combo?
If you score a bass cab, you can use either a dedicated bass head, or even an old PA head.
I recommend Sweetwater for new stuff. Their customer service is really tight.sigpic

Re: Need a bass amp that is cheap and loud
I'd recommend an Acoustic. Great value for the money, and I've used an Acoustic on a good number of recordings and got great results, along with letting my bass player borrow it for practices, and he has no problems being heard in a band mix. Great tone as well.
