  • Gibson LP Triumph bass versus EB, RD, LPB or Thunderbird

    Needless to say, this question is mainly intended for Reggie/Ginormous.

    What sonic possibilities does the Gibson LP Triumph Bass present that the EB series, RD, Thunderbird and modern, long scale, Bartolini-equiped Les Paul Bass models do not?

    (Yes. I have deliberately omitted the Norlin era, screw-on neck models.)

    Had to sell it...

    The Bartolini versions resemble the body style, but sonically they stand firmly in J-bass territory.
    Example:



    The short version: the Triumph can and does present a wider tonal palette.
    It can emulate all the models mentioned, but does its' own thing also.
