  • Cleaning chrome control plate

About a month ago I decided to tear down my J bass and clean it inside and out. Never got around to posting it, So I figured why not today.

The chrome control plate started to lose it's shine and turned a dull black, After hours upon hours of trying to buff it out by hand I decided to take a dremel with a polishing tip to it, Tons of wax and an hour later it looked like new aside from the old scratches. (While I was at it I waxed all the screws and cleaned the rust out of them.)

Aside from the terrible pictures and massive amount of dust, It's a clear difference.

Looks great. I wonder whether this could be done with a drill and a polishing bit. I don't think I've seen a polishing bit.

I need a dremel. I have a covered humbucker that needs to be brought back to life and I don't have enough elbow grease.

Closest thing I can think of would be a Mag polishing kit.

Thanks--will look for one. Don't need a whole kit.
