  • Preamp not functioning correctly?

    Hello,

I just got a 2014-2015 ESP E-II AP-5, with the STC-3M4, but with 5 knobs (added blend pot), and it seems like the slap switch is not there, because the volume knob doesn't want to pull up (therefore, the internal trimpots do nothing). Does anyone have this bass, and if so, do you know if the slap-switch function was omitted, with the trimpots still left on the circuit board?

    Thank You,

    Ben

Did you buy this new? If not, maybe some modifications have been done. Do other models of this bass have the same setup?

Nope, but in really nice shape, and I found out that the slap switch is indeed there. The US website info didn't list it, but the Japanese one does...I was thinking it was the mid knob.

      All good!

If you are able to remove the control cavity cover and take a look at the pots/wiring we that would help determine what might be going here. If the pot for the volume knob is indeed a push/pull pot there may be an issue with the pot, if the pot is not then is it likely the manufacturer omitted the push/pull slap feature for this model. If you would be able to take some pictures of the electronics and post them that may allow others on the forum to provide some additional support and help you troubleshoot as well

Roger that. To quote myself (I'm not really 'that guy', but it's easier to just grab this one) :
