I dunno, but pretty low. I learn 80's metal songs, but whenever I create something of my own, it's pop/rock.

I set mine mostly by eye and feel but my measurements are usually around 5/64" on bass and treble sides at the 12th frets unfretted...I Like my strings up a bit so I can get under them..

at the 12th fret my 1st string is 3/64" off the fret and the 6th string is 5/64" off the fret. I play Blues/Southern/Rock mostly with little bit of everything else just to change up the tempo now and then. My rhythem/lead ratio is about 60/40 per gig.

Dunno the measurements, but medium/low. Not too hard to play, but high enough that I don't have strings slip under when I bend. 10-46 D'addarios and GHS Nickel Rockers. 9s feel like rubber bands to me. I prefer medium jumbo frets.

I play funk, afrobeat, blues, rock, fusion, etc...

I play heavier stuff for the most part, my "standard" action is 1.14mm high E, 1.3 Low E (Measurement top of 12th fret to bottom of string with string fretted at the first Fret ). Strings are DR Tite-Fit 12-52

Some guitars have a bit higher, notably acoustics, and some are a tad lower

Yes, though not as much as the stuff at the other end. Improper nut height will mainly affect your first couple frets, with the effect diminishing as you go down the neck.

Also can you adjust the action with a floyd much?
Yes. Easily enough for any setup, I would think.

I just went through this on my guitars... I set the action at about 1mm, measured at the 14th fret (on both 1st string and 6th string). I play metal, and do a lot of solo stuff... 1mm seems to be a nice number for me.

If you're shooting for low action (4/64" or lower), you'll probably need to make sure your neck is set nearly perfect, otherwise you may fret out, or get a lot of buzz. Tune your guitar to your standard tuning, then put a capo on the 1st fret. Press down on the last fret, and then measure the clearance between the fret and string (on the 6th string) at the 8th fret. This clearance should be about .010", If it's more than that, tighten your truss rod. If it's less than that, loosen your truss rod. I usually tighten or loosen in 1/8 turn increments, unless I have a guitar that's REALLY far off.

This setup is certainly not the only way to do it, but it has worked well for me... to get low action with the least amount of fret buzz. And remember, if you change your tuning or string gauge, you'll need to readjust the neck. The truss rod is there to counteract the pull against your neck from the strings... so any changes to the forces your strings are putting on the neck will affect it.

Yes, and no. As ADS said, the nut affects the open strings the most, and the effect diminishes as you "go up". But the Intonation will be more or less off everywhere if the nut is too high, because as soon as you get one portion of the neck spot on the rest will be out of whack

But most people capo the first fret to set the action, just to make sure the nut isnīt part of the equation, as itīs one of the variables. And if you can simply drop a variable out of an equation, itīs usually a good idea to do so....

Also can you adjust the action with a floyd much?
As stated in another thread, Floyds have Posts that are almost an inch long, and only about a fourth of that has to be in the insert for stability. Gives you about 3/4 of an inch of travel. In almost 15 years as a Tech and luthier
Iīve NEVER seen a guitar that needed anywhere near that amount of adjustment

Re: How highs your action and what style do you play?

I like the action low at about a 16th" at the last fret for both low and high E's.
I use 9-42's and play metal with shred leads with dark and heavy rhythms.
another thing i was taught is the necks relief it has a lot to do with how any action will feel and sound.
i like .008 relief at the 7-8th fret area so it is not perfectly straight this allows the fret buzz to be reduced on the neck with a super low action
