  • mic for my amp

i need to get a mic for my fender hot rod deluxe, and I'm debating either the sennheiser silver dynamic(40hz-18khz), or the shure sm57 (40hz-15khz)

any thoughts? and please put why

Sure SM-57. It's tough, sound good and it's a classic sound. Most concerts you go to, if the amp is mic'd, you're hearing it through a SM-57.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

SM-57. Accurate sound production, rugged and reliable. You can get them new for $90 all the time, on sale for $75 if you watch. I wouldn't be too hesitant to buy a used one....which I've seen on eBay for $50 or so.

I'm assuming you need this for recording? I mean if you need to mike your HRD you must be playing a huge venue!

If the venue is "medium-sized", they should provide a PA, and in all likelihood will mic the guitars with '57s. I don't understand what you need mic for ...
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

they just provide the building, we have to bring everything else, including a PA

I've always used 57s. They sound good and last forever.

SM-57, hands down. They're sturdier than Sennheiser, sound great, and after all these years, they're still the industry standard. Plus, you can pick them up cheap at a pawn shop!

I would go with a Shure, just because I know I can trust the quality.
