So I finally picked up that SG I was thinking about getting. I picked it up for $250, which I think isn't bad at all. I played it earlier today for a little and the pickups don't seem to be all that bad. They seem a bit dark or deeper than I like but that doesn't bother me much for the time being. The feel of the guitar is a different story. Can't really put it into words other than it just doesn't feel right to me. Overall its in good shape with the exception that it is missing a knob on one of the tuning machines. I'm hoping to replace that soon so I can start playing it more. If anyone has a replacement for this let me know.

That's a killer deal. Did you get that at GC? Post up a pic.
Also, if you decide you don't like it, holler at me.

Re: Got a Gibson Special Faded SG today!!
I play SG's and they are just the perfect guitar for me.
I love the neck, its nice and fat, but you can still shred on it; I love the body contours.
SG's not only sound great for rhythms, but they have a wicked lead tone, too.
I can think of any other guitar that gives me the tone that SG's do.This space is for rent.

I dont know i find find the necks on the Sg special to be very fat fatter than those on the standard SG's this is justf orm what i noticed granted i never layed them back to back just from past experience with 2 seperate guitars played at 2 different times.Proud Master of Strats.....

Originally posted by kramerCongrats on the new axe, but why did you buy it if it didn't feel right? IMO the way a guitar feels to you is the most important thing......pickups, electronics, etc can always be changed, but the way it plays is inherent.

Originally posted by StratTomI think what doesn't feel right is the difference in the fingerboards. My Epi has a rosewood board while the Gibson has an Ebony one. Its a bit of a different feel to me as I'm not used to playing on an ebony fingerboard.PRS McCarty Korina loaded w/Godwoods
