For $500-$800CAD you could probably find a used Peavey 5150. You should also be able to find some Fender amps in about that price range. Try browsing EBay.ca to see what comes up in that price range.

What sound do you want? Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Punk?

What're some bands sound similar to the tone you're after?

              Re: CRATE AMplifers

get a 40 or 50 watt closed back combo

if you got a jcm800 combo & a zakk wylde pedal i think you'd me way more than happy

check ebay, yes its worth saving for

check ebay for marshall JCM combos. the 800 oreferably, but the 900 and 2000 will get you there also.

you could also get a hot rod deville if you got good pedals for that massive distortion.
or a used fender roc-pro 700 or 1000 a friend has the 700 (or 750) and the tone is really good. it's a tube preamp so the gain comes from there. really nice and not that expencive either if you can find one

Try and score a used Marshall JCM800, 900, or a DSL.

Look for used ones. They're harder to find for the price you're looking, but they can be found. The JCM900s in particular tend to go pretty cheap.

Unfortunatly, $800CAD is right at the breaking point. Below it, there's some decent solid state amps, Above it is the lower priced tube stuff.

But at it.......for tubes, you're only choice is to find something used.
