Re: Ernie Ball/D'Addario users.....
I made the switch over to DR strings about 6 years ago and while in that time I've tried some other brands (and before switching to DR I played a lot of different strings). It's the first time I noticed a difference in my strings.
I think the most important thing anyone can do is just not believe all the hype surrounding certain strings. Changing your strings often, setting up your instrument well, and knowing how to play will trump your string selection.
It won't matter what string you play if your guitar isn't setup right and you suck at playing it.
But when tone matters nothing beats DR.
I've tried Ernie Ball, D'Addarrio, SIT, Elixir, Cleartone, Red, Rotosound, Martin, Dean Markley, Everly, and Gibson.

When I started I used to only use Dean Markley. I love the way they sounded new but I found the tone falloff was too quick.
About 4 years ago I switched to D'Addario and that's all I use now. I find they don't sound so bright when new and are consistent in tone as they age. I will say this: I think I've broken maybe a couple strings total since going to D'Addarios.-

Da boy's a genius.
