buying amp, cabinet?

I've been thinking of buying an amp lately and it was suggested to me to just buy a cabinet and then run my GT3 pedal through that. I'll want to buy a head for the cabinet eventually, possibly even a rack-mount. but what do you guys/girls think of the idea of just getting a cabinet for now? i really don't know much about how that would work, so let me know whatever u have to say. i'm willing to spend up to roughly $800 and i play mostly classic rock, blues, etc. what do you think my best bet would be?

You need an amp to power the cab. Your GT3 doesn't have enough power by itself.
