Thinking of a new guitar? Schecter Ultracure?

I am thinking about a new guitar and I have seriously been looking at and considering a Schecter Ultracure. It seems like a pretty versatile and affordable guitar.

I love the fact that it has SD coil tapped 59's in it. It looks like a really nice shape with access to my high frets. I think I would throw a Bigs trem bar on it though for some good trem fx while playing.

Thoughts?..

Not my cup of tea personally, however, I owned a schecter previously and it was a decent all around guitar. If you dig the ultracure, you can be pretty confident that Schecter will build a good quality instrument for the price and will back it if you have problems.

I think you will find that most people will say their instruments are a solid score for that price range.

Would you guys do an ultracure and slap a bigs on it, or get an ultra III?

Personally I like the presentation of the ultracure more because it looks more clean-cut (I guess). And the ultra III has 3 hummers on it, which seems like a bit much to me.

However, the ultra III costs less and the pickups are still coil-tapped (so I would still have some tone versatility). It also comes with a bigs b-50 already on it so I wouldn't have to do that mod to it.

Dilemmas...

Honestly? I think its overpriced. Maybe becuz of the "signature" status? I'm sure its a fine guitar tho, so if you like it go for it.

As an FYI, I can get that Cure tone with my semi-hollow. I think a better investment in both guitars and tone would be a Epi Sheraton II. You'll probably swap pups eventually and at that time you can add coil taps. I think it'd be just as good as the Schecter, with more ability and resale value.

Hope that helps. :)

Actually I'm not so much going after The Cure type sounds. This would be my first sig guitar because I actually hate the idea of signature guitars. Just a mental preference I guess.

I did like the body style of it though and it looks like a good versatile guitar.

I haven't ever used SD 59's. What do you guys think of them?

I like 'em. I match the 59 with a C5 bridge. I like this combo so much I have it in 3 guitars.

The '59er is one of my favorite neck pups. It cleans up well, is warm and never muddy, and combined with the C5 bridge has alot of heavy crunch.
