  • My ovation has a buzz, help please

Hey guys, my Ovation has kind of a mean buzz on the b string particularly at the 3rd fret. I may have put slightly lighter strings on this time around as well, SO:

Would putting on heavier strings fix this somewhat??

Is there anything I can do to either fix the buzz (fret filing etc) that isn't too dangerous for me to do or should i take it in to the shop??

All the other strings are good and the problem really only exists in and around the 3rd fret, please help guys!!

heavier strings would put more tension on the neck causing a bit more bow

a quick tweak of the truss rod would probably help

or revert to the other strings

Re: My ovation has a buzz, help please

reasons why this may be happening:

      Fret wore down (2nd)
      fret too high (3rd)
      perhaps nut slot issue

Kinda close for the truss to help...but maybe.
Higher tension strings can only hurt your fingers. Otherwise they may be a defacto-truss adjustment without adjusting the truss.

        Aceman you may be right
        probably are

but I was under the impression that the problem didnt exist before the string change
