Replace Jackson pots for EMG install on a Dinky?

Hey all,

Got my guitar today and am going to Guitar Center to get some strings and stuff and am going to swap out the stock pickups (JB & Jazz) for EMG's.

Do I have to get different pots to switch it over to EMG pickups?? I know I need a new output jack for the active pickups but am not sure about the volume and tone pots.

Yes. Your stock pots are 500k, you need 25k (NOT 250k). They probably won't have them at Guitar Center.

They might have them at guitar stores, I don't see why not! Its not all that uncommon.
If you can't find any there, usually some guitar tech's will have some on hand, couldn't hurt to call around!

I think I need the entire wiring kit. My first Jackson SLSMG came with the EMG's installed and I just swapped them for Duncan Blackout Metals and left the wiring installed. Works fine.

Problem is I dont think I have all of the wiring parts to install the EMG's that came with the Duncan Blackouts

Wait. EFF YEAH! The wiring kits in the Duncan Blackout boxes that came with the pickups have the pots and output jack! WOOT!

Can I use the SD wiring for EMG pickups??

I dont have one of those (for lack of better terminology) big ass junction boxes that all the wires feed into on the EMG wiring diagram:

shouldn't need one as long as you have the quick connect wires or the EMG's are pre-quick connect.

take pictures of what you have and I could explain it better.

Most people don't, that's optional. To hook up active EMGs or Blackouts you need:

25k pots (technically optional, I wire mine directly to the jack. )
stereo jack
quick connect wires
battery connector
