  • Humbuckers Epiphone Les Paul gothic

    Hi...

I bought an epiphone les paul studio gothic... If I want to upgrade the electronics, what kind of humbuckers should I mount?

What kind of music are you playing? How much distortion and effects?

For an LP, a pair of PAF's are a great choice for most genres (PG, APH, '59, etc). But if you're into metal, a Custom/'59N would cut thru nicely.

      Welcome to the forum.

First of, you better move this thread to pickup lounge for more attention and replies.

Second, you need to give more information: What type of woods involved and sound you are looking for?

In addition to music you're playing, what amp are you using, and do you play rhythm, lead, or both?

Thanks for the welcome... I would like to address somewhat all kinds of rock and metal... Do not look for a particular sound... Thanks again for your help...

I would agree for Custom/'59N combo for metal. An Alnico 8 in that custom could also do wonders for you.

Whenever anyone says "Les Paul" I immediately think "C5 and 59n".

              Pre programmed response: yes

              Tried and true: yes

With '59n means positioned at the neck of my guitar? The C5 could also place at the bridge ... not?

There is a 59 for bridge (59B) and and neck (59N). They are wound differently due their positions in the guitar. C5 is usually preferred for bridge.

I have that set in 3 different Les Paul style guitars.

I find these to be a perfect combo in a LP type guitar. Its got a very good hard rock slightly distorted sound, "dirty" if you will.

Roll back the volume and its instant classic rock vibe. Cleans up very well.

Nevery muddy, and well balanced - just the right amount of mids/bass/highs.

I find it very useful for a variety of genres.

Put a roughcast A5 or unoriented A5 in that C5 and you'll get an even better tone. Just did it to mine. Same goes from a 498T.
