      Re: Question about Mighty Mite

I have ordered a maple strat neck once for a friend of mine and they were ok. Not as good as warmoth but my friend was looking for a cheap, quick solution. We placed the order from ebay. I don't know if they have a Product Catalog but you can view the products of their ebay store. I should also admit their customer service was very good.

have never purchased one of their necks, but do some reading before buying. Seems like quite a few of them need considerable work when they arrive.

I had a p-bass made from their parts, a body and a neck, and it was an amazing playing bass.

              Re: Question about Mighty Mite

i have a strat neck that came on a guitar i own. it's ok at best. the contour is pretty comfortable, but the fret ends are cut-your-hand sharp, and the nut is butchered. of course some fret files would take care of one problem and the nut might have been destroyed by the previous owner, so i can't really blame mighty mite for anything. they don't compare to the warmoth necks i've owned, but i didn't expect it to. decent for the price!

                Re: Question about Mighty Mite

Different aftermarket companies have differing levels of quality, and theirs is on par with $400 Mexican Fenders. So, if you're trying to put together a $1000 level guitar, Mighty Mite is not the way to go. I have heard of luthiers buying those necks, then doing a fair bit of work. That's all I can say about them.....but I'm telling you the truth.

Warmoth and USACG is probably worth the extra $50 or $100 per piece. But what I'd do personally, if piecing together a guitar is buy parts that were parted from Fenders on Ebay. Then, you're getting stuff that needs no prep work....just install, because they came from parted completes.

                  Re: Question about Mighty Mite

Well, Mighty Mite is a time honored company. Just wanted to point that out. Some speculate Eddie Van Whosuit had a Mighty Mite in his Frankencaster. back in the day they put out quality parts.
As far as the new necks. They are good solid necks, but will need some set up work. They are licensed by Fender.
I have a Mighty Mite neck on my Fender USA body Tele. Its got some real nice flame maple, and was finished by a luthier. Not much choice in neck profile , and many may not be that great due to quality control issues..the one I have is a darn good neck, but , as i said, it had considerable set up work done on it. It has nice big frets and about a 9.5 radius...I don;t see many like that. Do your homework and pick and choose unless you just want something cheap off the shelf for a hundred bones.
BTW, i wouldn't discount Mighty Mite bodies. To me, they are betetr than Allparts, which I hate. The Allparts necks are probably better in general though.

                    Re: Question about Mighty Mite

Their bodies are fantastic for the price and use real centre bookmatched 2 piece bodies.
Necks can go both ways in so far as quality of grain direction. Usually their more
exotic offerings reflect real value for money over Warmoth or USACG, with decent
flame, birdseye and nice black ebony.

AFAIK any aftermarket neck needs attention on the frets and rear contours.
lets face it, we all have different profile preferences and a fret dress is mandatory.

And I know, because I have 10 different new builds happening ATM
using MM, Warmoth, Allparts and some real tasty custom made bodies and necks.
Stay tuned for some build threads !!! 90% Teles BTW!!!

Regarding Warmoth, I only ever go through the same salesperson and EVERYTHING
I've ordered through him has been exceptional. Nice figure on necks and always
2 piece centre bookmatched bodies. And just for the record, their figured bodies
                    have a 1/8th laminate top.

                    Cheers, Will.
