These Korg AW-2's are great tuners. Pretty accurate and stable. Also works well for setting your intonation. I like that I don't have to have it inline. I think it looks cool on the guitar too. Another trivial post brought to you by Mule.

there is a wireless one that is circular that changes colors.
works great in a noisy guitar store from 20 feet away. Couldn't believe it.
it was around the same price, thought it was made by Korg also but maybe I'm wrong.
want it though.tele / wolfie

Re: Best $30 I ever spent on a guitar gadget.
above, I meant to say there are colored LEDs that let you know when you approach pitch ...
... but I left out the COOLEST part: the big "E" or "G#" it shows you when you are AT pitch !
but the REALLY cool part I wasn't clear about is you don't need it in yer chain because it picks up yer strings vibrating from 20 feet away!!!! It's wireless!!! Works perfcetly in a noisy store / bar / stadium. Sit it on top of yer amp and just look over at it from across the stage.
almost positive it's a Korg. Would buy 10.
works acoustically from 20 feet awaytele / wolfie

Just from the looks of it, it seems pretty much like any other hand-held tuner: you can plug into it or use the mic... I wonder if my old-school tuner works from further away...

Re: Best $30 I ever spent on a guitar gadget.
I got my boss tu-2 for my old amp(that this was worth like 10 dollars) and that tuner has some scars. I've dropped it on the road like three times, its been thrown across a cafeteria and its been curb stomped and I'm sure if it got shot it would be fine. Plus it tunes like a beast.88-89 Fender HM Strat(Dimarzio pickups)

Also, I usually gig a Fender, so who needs a tuner?
Really, it's just that I've never had the spare $100 that I cared to spend on a tuner instead of something else. And now, I've been playing so long that I can tune on the fly during a song if a need arises.
Good setups are my friend.

Re: Best $30 I ever spent on a guitar gadget.
I used a boss tu-2 pedal for the electrics...
Most of my acoustics have onboard electronics with a built in tuner. That's how I roll.
And I use a Sabine Zoid Z-1000 clip on tuner. Although I miss my old Intellatouch Bare Bones model. This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections. - St. Augustine of Hippo
