  • How to get a better distortion from my deville 4x10?

    Hi

I just bought a nice Fender Blues Deville 4x10 amp. I really love the cleans on it but I don't really like the distortion.
When testing I got it connected to a 2x12 cabinet because the speakers of the amp itself didnt work. The distortion/overdrive sounded a lot better then.

I've put jensen c10q's in it and like I said I love the clean tones coming from it, but for some reason the distortion sucks its just wait to squeeky and not a nice kinda growl. Now I'm not sure what happened, if its the speakers or the changed settings???

Is it possible to get a nice low growl from 4x10 speakers? And does anyone know what I could try to get a nice low growl from my deville?

    Thx.

    Peter

ive had good luck with getting a better dirty tone with a good set of tubes, a 12at7 in v3 (preamp tube closest to the bigger power tubes) also helps. a speaker change can always help also. im sure some alnico webers come in a flavor youll like

sounds like you'd prefer the 2x12 version to me. Try a quality od pedal like a Keeley, Fulltone or G2D. My preference for marshalising a fender is the G2D classic. www.g2d.co.nz

          My Advice -

          1) Change the tubes.
          2) Get a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 or G2D classic.
          3) Replace the speakers with Celestion G10 Vintages.
          4) If all else fails, Get the 2x12 version.
          5) If step 4 fails. Get a Boogie.
