My bassist is looking to get a new bass rig...he's looking to spend around $800 for a head and cab.

Right now he's looking at the ampeg SVT-3 Pro head (used for $500). If he got a 4x10 cab for now (maybe another down the road or a 1x15) would this be loud enough to compete with drums and two marshall tube stacks?

Also, if you have any opinions on that head or others in that price range...please send 'em my way!

That rig should be enough to keep up, depending on the size of the room. BTW, i personally preffer the sound of 4x10 cabs as opposed to 15's. I like snap and definition.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

tell him to get an avatar cab, with some really high watt speakers, they'll make it sound a lot bigger, and with bass, big sounding is everything
