what the **** is that about? a friend gave me his epiphone to set up and i noticed that tightening the screws on the tailpiece does nothing! they SPIN IN THE WOOD! they don't come out however. ideas?

Sounds stripped, take out the other screws and lift it up. Then use some tooth picks in the holes to make a tighter fit when you screw it in placeBASSES: Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass/Ric 4003 Bass (Blue)

They don't come out? Try taking the tailpiece off, screwing the posts into the bushings, and using the posts to pry the bushings out. If you can get them out, glue a toothpick or two to the wall of the bushing hole to tighten the fit."Everything must be black, like the storm of justice!"

The Epi bushings don't screw in, IIRC. I think they are a press fit. It would be best to dowel the holes and redrill for the bushings to fit correctly. Toothpicks will create uneven stress points and may make the finish crack.Originally Posted by IanBallard
