whenever i'm installing Floyds or American Standard trems i always have issues getting the posts drilled in the right place... getting the posts the right distance apart, getting the posts straight and even distances from the nut on both sides, as well as the strings sitting on the neck where i want them too....
how i've been doing it is to use the bridge with fishing line as E strings to find where i want the bridge to sit as far as the strings on the neck go and mark it on the body... then use a peice of plastic with the post holes drilled the right distance apart with a center line across the holes... from there i measure both sides of the E string areas to the center line to get the right distance from side to side.... once i feel it's where i think they should go i start to drill the holes thru the plastic template... remove the plastic template and finnish the holes on a drill press...
it does not always go perfect... is there an easier way? what am i missing?
