  • Forgot to tell y'all what happened to my tele

I put single coils in it again. you might not remember, but a while back I spoke of a friend who bought a telecaster when what he realy needed was a PRS or a Gibson or anything else with humbuckers. I just called him up and asked if he wanted to trade. my telecaster now has Texas Specials installed.

I'd like to Andy Summers-ize this telecaster.

What I'm going to do is buy a mint coloured fat tele pickguard and purchase a covered 59n.

a company called Armadillo Guitars makes the brass bridge. as for the phase switch and boost... i still dont know what to try. on the big expensive fender custom shop model, there is a clapton mid boost, but i dont know if i want to go that route.

anybody got any ideas for that last one?

Now just wait a minute here - when did you get an AC30?

Did you get rid of the Hot Rod Deluxe?

Don't you just love moving and transporting the mammoth AC30?

Hot Rod got traded Hunter, but let's not talk about it, I have some ...minor regrets.

The AC30 is borrowed, but yeah its a whole lot of fun to move around.

You could try something like a GFS Mod Board as a booster-type thingy. Maybe the compressor or overdrive with the internal controls set a certain way. Just a guess.

Why are you going to change that nice looking tele into... THAT!?!?

I'm not sure about the preamp bit. I'd heard it died pretty early on in the police and he just ran without it after that. You can probably get a pedal to do the same thing and not cut very large chunks into a nice guitar

Below is my attempt, but with enough differences to make it my own. par/ser/split switch and phasing too for the bucker.

One note - you may want to keep the neck pup disconnected from the tone pot. Very muddy in this guitar ATM

For a Andy Summers I would suggest a Rare Breed bridge http://rarebreedguitars.com/

The Rare Breed one is based on the one that Summers has. Although the USD price is a bit steep I think retailers or the bay have them cheaper.
I think the active boost in Andy's guitar is a Dan Armstrong.
As for a neck pickup remember Andy's is out of phaze.
This video might be of help.
