  • good strat for a good price?

alright, i want a strat. full on single coils, for my blues, funk, country, etc.. stuff and i need a nice one for a good price.

im gonna see if maybe i can do something for christmas. i was thinking of just going and getting a fender mexican strat and end up buying some antiquity's for it.

so, other than that.. whats a good strat, one of the fender vintage series thingies looked appealing, beandip was telling me about them and they look like a good deal

    thanks

Re: good strat for a good price?

How good of a price are ya talking? I just bought a mint 2003 Fender 50's reissue strat for $499 from Chris' guitars. It plays great, the most comfortable neck my hands have ever held, except I can't do a couple 1 1/2 step bends on a couple frets on the high e string because of the vintage radius. But I really wanted that vintage feel and look so it doesn't bother me one bit. I am so used to playing that guitar that playing the Squier with the C shape neck feels weird. And playing the Epi Dot with the fat neck is somewhat uncomfortable. We'll see what the Paul is like when it gets out of the shop....

For now I am satisfied with the pickups in it but I'll probably replace the bridge pickup with something when my summer job kicks back up...

I'm tryin to attach a pic I shot last night for that other thread. Lets see if this works....crap well its in that thread of your favorite guitar, on the 2nd page I think.

A used Fender MIA can be had for about 500-550 at some GCs or even ebay.

Or you can try a HWY 1 strat. Good quality at a good price (400-500)

Or a Fender Jimmie Vaughn strat. Heard nothing but great things about them.

          G&L, S-500

In my opinion, when it comes to strat style guitars, nothing beats G&L's, S-500. S-500's can be had used for $500-600. The pickups are very hot.

it dont matter whether is MIM or MIA strat too me, depends in who hands it is placed makes the badass tone

i can tell u my MIM strat is the best strat i've ever played...even friends with vintage and MIA strats love my strat to death

i played over 50 strats till i picked this one, it even has a big scratch down the back of the guitar, so it ended up costing 200 bucks, though it sounded amazing so i had to have it

i got a jb jr. in the bridge and im about to replace the neck pickup for the 2nd time to find one that suits it well
