  • It's been a looong time, but...new guitar!

As some of you may remember...we're flat broke. We needed money for heating oil, so I sold my cherry sunburst 1973 LP Deluxe that had been routed for a bridge bucker, and a very good job too; looked stock. My wife just started a new job a few weeks ago, so she said I could buy one of these Agile guitars I'd been gassing for with some of the money from the LP sale. Figuring I could just sell it if we needed the money, I started looking at the Dauntless and AL-2000 models. The price is nice for the guitar, but after paying shipping, getting a cheap case and a pickup swap for at least the bridge, I was looking at around $360. Not what I wanted to spend for the lower model. I had seen some for around $180, but not in the colors I wanted. I'm not usually too picky but I just don't want a goldtop--which is weird because I've been wanting one for many years, but lately I don't.

Anyway, I see this AL-3100 on eBay tonight with case and free shipping for $335. Again, not the color I wanted, but it was the cheapest 3100 I had seen since I started looking. So I pulled the trigger. I hope I don't ever have to turn around and sell it, and I feel a bit guilty for buying it, but I really felt the NEED for a NGD. I hope Agile g.a.s. is high test because I don't want to be disappointed with this guitar. The sad note is that I think the Jesus guitar may have to go.

      Ha ha! Yep.

I wanted the Rootbeer or Tobacco sunburst, but I couldn't pass this one up. Can you post a pic of yours? Heck, if anyone wants to post their pics, let's rock this thread. Any guitar but I'd love to see some Agiles from you guys.

What is that, a spalted maple cap? It looks great.

The only thing I can fault is the pickguard isn't a triple ply. A single ply just looks cheap.

congrats!! look forward to the review! Ive been gassing for an Agile since they came out. Ive heard almost nothing but good things.. (great things) Prices have almost doubled since they came out and people still say they are a great deal.

I just dont understand the Dauntless ones. Asked Kurt and he replied that they were a different brand, but they say Agile on the stock.. I figured it would be like the Douglas ones he carries.
                    Sorry to get off topic..
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

Interesting little tidbit here...seems to be the only one that has an inlay on the first fret. All the other LP versions do not as well as some other models I saw on the site. I wonder why this model is so "special".
