  • Crossley Pearl

    Hi Guys,
    another one off the bench..
This one is done in Pearl White, the pix dont do it justice unfortunately, the pearl doesnt photo well
its a basswood body 2 piece, Qld maple and mahogany neck, Brierley Crossley spec pups, usual coil splitting etc
Pacific Ebony board. Very Very light weighs in a 5 1/2 pounds all loaded up..
being light its very resonant as well, loud acoustically.
Sculpted with a more fluid sort of form as well.

                Very 'pure'.

Basswood is a great tonewood... but it seems most mainstream companies only use a dull, lightweight variety now. My Charvel M4 is heavier than most modern basswood guitar and while it doesn't have the character of an Ash or Alder axe, it's still very 'sweet' sounding, just a lovely voicing.
Underrated tonewood I think (but I'm mostly wrong).

I LOVE a pearl finish on a guitar - my brain can fill in what it looks like.

                  Love it, Peter.

I think that's probably my favourite out of all the guitars I've seen from you. Very, very nice work, sir.

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I too was reminded of the Ibanez JS/radius guitars. I like this one because it has no figured top! Just a nice solid colour. Bet it shines with an elvish light when lights hit it.

Don't think I've seen you make a basswood guitar before, what do you think of the wood? As it polarizes opinion.
