  • Need more info on this SG (old NGD)

Any info on this guitar would be much appreciated....

I got this guitar back in late 90s/early 2000s. My uncle gave it to me. He got it from the guitar shop he used to work at and couldn't find much info on it. he said it was half Gibson, half Epi. It defiantly has Gibson parts on it. Made in the USA. 2 Vol, 1 tone. Had some vintage Gibson pickups which I sold. The serial # is 82792633.

    Here's some guitar porn....

So is this worth anything? Since it was made at Gibson's plant, is it Gibson?

That's a pretty cool guitar, just for the fact that there are so few of them floating around...

That you have a cool, well made and now because of the age vintage USA made Epiphone guitar.

What else are you looking for?

                    Now the real fun begins.....

I gotta take it to the shop to get restored and set up. Havent played it in such a long time. Been chilling in a case for soooo long. First things first is lower the string guage. last time I played it I put on .13s. Then switch the pickups. Right now it has Dimarzio breed/evo any suggestiuons?

I would have it set up, but would hold up on the restoration. Just play it, it's a piece of your family heritage.

Re: Need more info on this SG (old NGD)

I've never seen that guitar, which is odd, since I've seen most it seems. Weird that it has 3 knobs.

If it were mine, I'd definitely keep it in it's original condition, but make it look and sound 10 times better by installing Antiquities with aged covers.

I'm not sure about the bridge. I've seen a lot of guitars like that with aftermarket bridges like that, which people installed to replace stop/tail bridges.
My buddy has an early SG Junior with a bridge like that, but we know it's not stock. But then, I look at the 82 in the link above, and it's blurry but looks the same.

Like I said. Do nothing to it but add Antiquities.
You'll have a killer SG then!
