  • Worming on a Guitar Neck?

    Hey!

I saw this in an article about wear and tear on a guitar, but they didn't really explain what this was. I have 2 ideas of what it might be:

1-when the thumb and hand presses into the back of the neck and causes hollowed out spots due to repeated wear (as in the Music Man EVH digitally reproduced wear areas on the back of the neck). -or-

2-worn down areas of the finish on the back of a neck to bare wood. You've seen really old Strats with those black/dirty necks. I think I saw a Clapton or a SRV Strat with this before.

    Lemmie know whatcha think! Thanks!

I would think worming has more to do with woodworms on badly maintained instruments, predominantly acoustics.....got a pic?
