Excellent choice... a real beaut. My G&L has a similar look to your Suhr, I'm just thinking about modding the Tort plate on mine for a humbucker. Congrats on that there beasty.

I can just see you... "Hey, what the F..... Oh..." My 1987 Peavey bass has a fretboard cover and still has it in the case, so I can imagine theirs still have them.

Looks great. It appears to have a nice full C neck too.

It's cool that Suhr brought out the Pro Series, so you could get that kind of quality without paying his old $3000 Custom Shop prices.

For a $2100 guitar, you got a steal at $1200.

          That looks amazing man!

Whata fret size is that? They look enormous on that close pic.

It looks like such a great guitar man, congratulations!

NICE!! Would love a chance to play a Suhr...
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

Spec sheet calls it the SSV Humbucker. Suhr's site tells me that model is vintage voiced with a dc resistance of 9k.

My ears tell me it's a nice "vintage hot" PAF-style pickup with very little compression and a lot of honk, it pushes an amp nicely with a good solid bottom and wails and moans for leads.

Thanks! I feel the same way. You can buy used Suhr S1s for < 1700 pretty regularly but I still think I got a pretty good deal.

The neck is a nice shape. It's their "even C slim" shape, which goes from .800 - .880 from the 1st to the 12th fret. I like a neck with some meat to it, but I find this neck to be very comfy and not cramped at all.

Thanks dude! The frets are listed only as "heavy."

They're tall and narrow, with a flat crown at the top. They're sort of shaped like little pyramids with the tops cut off.

              ---

If I have any gripes at all after playing it pretty much all day, I'd say there are two things.

1.) The volume pot is really stiff. It takes effort to turn. Not a lot, but it definitely has a firm feel. The tone pot even moreso.

2.) The trussrod tool is only kinda convenient. It's nice that you don't have to remove anything like a trussrod cover or the neck itself, but the tool they give you is really specific and is kind of awkward to use. I wish they did it more like EBMM where you can stick just about anything in there that will fit and crank away.

But those are very minor gripes over a really great axe.

Here it is getting acquainted with its new family:

Suhr's are awesome guitars. A buddy of mine has a set neck model that plays like a dream so I know what you have there. I love the whole look of it. Congrats on a killer deal.

There's so much gear I want that the whole list would make a highway to hell if it was ever written down.

I love the contoured heel that Suhr (and Warmoth) use. It's amazing how much a 1/2" of wood removal can do.

... nice guit... dude... Just FWIW... Valley Arts (late of NoHo, CA) was the first boo-teek guitar maker to stick a "fret saver" shield underneath the strings... and the first luthier to offer pyramid-shaped fret wire was Phil Petillo (R.I.P.) ...

Congrats!!!! Looks like one of mine did when I got it - only I had a covered Bucker. Its a Classic model - but same color scheme.

Its now got a Mint green PG and a single in the bridge. Part of the magic is in the bridge - I went from a Gotoh 1055 to the 510 and the went from great to outrageous!
