  • Buffing ebony fretboards

Can anyone recommend a good way to buff ebony fretboards to a shine? On my next string change I'd like to buff the frets and the fretboard so they're glossy if possible.

    Thanks

Ebony, like Rosewood, is an unfinished material
all you can do is clean and re-moisturize it
    with lemon oil
or whatever your cleaning/oiling choice is

Do yourself a favor and just pick up a bottle of mineral oil at your local drug store. It will treat and shine it up nicely.

If its the old quality high grade slate black ebony it'll shine , if its the dull dyed(/) lower grade ebony, like I have on my new Gibson, forget it.

I do a few passes of #0000 ("four aught") steel wool if it's really gunky, then re-moisturize.
