  • Eastwood Classic 6

Anybody here have any experience with it? How does it compare to the Electromatic line if you know?

I've played a few Eastwoods and they have all been decent or better. Not crazy on some of their basswood guitars but that doesn't figure in here. I like the idea of a low-dough Falcon

This. Also, where is the frequency rolloff switch?

They hit those two things and I would be totally into it.

Having owned several Gretsch guitars I am pretty sure I can live without the Freq switch though I can always wire that in if I want to get freaky.

As for the Bigsby I am torn, I love the functionality sometimes and the look but they are a PITA for what little I would use it. On a sub-$500 guitar those 2 things probably $250 or so to the price and they aren't things I need or particularly want so I am OK with that.

        Thank You

That said, I would dive all over it.

I would opt for TV Jones pups on it and it would totally get you the Gretsch vibe. I like Bigsbys too but if you aren't going to use it, you could live without.

The last one I tried was a Joey Leone model and it seemed very nice.

On this one, I like the fact they left the giant E off the headstock, and used a regular logo.

Not spending the bread for a White Falcon, not happening.

Well played three so far and I haven't found one worth buying yet. The guitar itself is built pretty well with some minor finishing issues but the best one sounded like a tin can with strings and the fretwork has been atrocious. What a shame....

That is too bad. I'm sure someone could make good money making an imitation WF for a fraction of the cost. Gotta keep that quality Gretsch sound though.

If I found one used in the $250 range I might grab it and do a re-fret on it. I played a used one that had a fret level done and it was considerably better but still needed fret work, just really bad.

I know it is a cheap ride, I wasn't expecting perfection but when Epi is kicking your ass on the fret work it is time to re-think.

The higher end stuff had nicer work and I think they are made in Korea as opposed to China.
