  • Is it too weird to have two VERY similar looking guitars?

I've been wanting to pick up a Fender Blacktop Telecaster with a rosewood fretboard for a while now. The only thing holding me back is the available colors; silver, candy apple red, and black. The only color drawing me in is black, mainly because I want to do this look...

...but the thing is, this is what my strat looks like...

Would it be weird to have both of these in the coral? If only Fender would have had a sunburst option on the Blacktop Teles...

dude, if you like the look of tortoiseshell on black, then do it!

Personally, I think the pair would look sweet together.

Dude, all three of my main guitars are natural finishes.

Dude, they're both cool guitars, dude. Go for it.

          Dude.

Misleading thread title. A theme is different from the evil and wrong collection of interchangable guitars. Clone armies must be dispersed, forcibly if necessary. Sadly, not needed here.

One rosewood fretboard, one maple fretboard? They look completely different to me!

I don't think it's weird. If that's the look you love them go for it! With different pickups or different body woods those two guitars might look similar, but could be completely different animals. Plus I love tortoise on black, great color combo!

Rule number one when purchasing an instrument : get the one you WANT.

Some people have 6 times the same guitar, some people have only black ones, some people have other crazy stuff... just grab the one you dig the most and go home with it.
There's so much gear I want that the whole list would make a highway to hell if it was ever written down.
                  Don't ask.

If you like the colors, there's no problem. Unless, you have color-quota police in your neighborhood. Then, watch out.

If you do not buy it and your only reason is bc it's the same color, then you're a fool. Who cares if it's the same color/style.

If you like it, go for it! Matter of fact, back when I had alittle more income coming in, I used to try to buy 2 of everything. I used one and saved the other in case the first one got damaged.. But thats cuz Im An-- retentive about my gear.. I cant afford to do that and have sold my dups now.. but do have lots of black guitars. and some similar models with dif pups..
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.
