  • Wanna see a neat dirty bass? (Fender content)

    Here ya go!

The pickguard is even dirtier than the photo reveals... lost of finger schmutz. The headstock is riddled with dings and burns. I dig the custom knobs and the ghetto battery box.

It started life as a Mike Dirnt signature bass and has undergone several modifications since then. Interestingly enough, the owner got the bass from Mike Dirnt himself.

Anyways, thought this might inspire some.

Very cool. I like an instrument that tells a story.

He could replace the battery box by building a phantom power box and wiring a stereo jack to provide signal and power. He would just need to run a stereo cable between the power box and the jack.

That's freakin' awesome. It reminds me of Brody Dalle's voice - more noise and dirt then actual melody, but damn it's sexy.

Thought I'd probably ditch the pickguard, but then again, I've always been biased against them.

"Bah, who needs an A-string anyway?"
