Compare them to Rory Gallagher's and Stevie Ray Vaughan's, in both cases, the main, single instrument for many years.
My next point was that abuse is not necessarily part of the equation. Just using an instrument constantly and heavily over many years can produce that sort of wear to a nitro finish. This was in response to both of your posts suggesting that guitars with worn finishes have been abused,

So, I know it's been brought up before but what do you think of relic'd LP's (Murphy) and Fender Custom Shop Strats and Teles?

My opinion is, I take any new model at the beginning of the tour; some months in the van; at the end you would not be able to tell a difference between a relic'd and the tour'd
