  • Noise gate.. Worth buying ??

Hi.. One guy from my town wants to sell almost mint Boss NS-2 for about 40$
It's a good deal but i don't know anything about noise suppresors.. Do you have any in you chain? I've heard that they cut some frequencies and the tone is worse when u use them.. Is it true?

it depends - does your other equipment make a lot of unwanted noise? a noise gate can be a real help when playing live if you get too much noise..

it depends. some people will miss the hum as well, for me it's all part of the sound..

If you don't find your rig noisy, you don't need a gate.

That said, they can be handy to have around. I was stuck once because I was picking so much noise up that my amp was nearly unplayable. As it was I couldn't use the gain channel at all....I sure wished I had a gate that time.

if there is too much gain buzz and other interferences that have to do with stage lightning and those things, it's a good purchase, if not, you'll be throwing your money away
