Interesting thread tho......

More so guessing the guitar. I would love to see a thread with sound clips comparing different guitars but not saying which recording is which and guessing on it.

It would be fun to have a thread that compared different levels of equipment, then let people vote on what they thought they were hearing. Pickups would fun, and I'd LOVE to see recordings of different Les Pauls. I'd love to have recordings of a Studio, Standard, Custom, and some R7/8/9's, all set up exactly the same, and see if people can actually hear any differences in the tone without knowing which one they're listening to. (Granted, this wouldn't take the feel of the instrument into account, but nobody ever says "the feel" first when they're asked what their favorite aspect of a Les Paul is. It's always about the sweet tone)

The guitar gear for such a test is a '...little...' limited here but some studio geek buddies did something like that. There were the same hi-res sample files (4 tracks) mixed using different DAWs mixed fully in the digital domain and then different mixing consoles (the old way) then everyone started to guess. Well, there were some shocking results...

On a second thought, I can make such a test of different Marshalls sometime...
